Bird Watching Expedition

><
1/3
Best Times: June - August

This is the trip to add new species to your life list. The main attraction is St Lazaria National Wildlife Refuge, located 20 miles west of Sitka. This older cousin to Mt. Edgecumbe is an eroded volcano known as a volcanic plug. It is a special location to admire breeding colonies of Petrels, Murres, Guillemots, Auklets, Puffins, and Gulls, as well as Bald Eagles and Peregrine Falcons. In the nesting area of this small island, the density can reach 70,000 birds per acre. It is a orno-buff’s paradise. The expedition to Lazaria is available only on calm sea days due to the exposure to the gulf of Alaska.

This expedition departs and concludes in Sitka, Alaska
